Weekend At The Lake

This past weekend we went down to Lake Martin for a friend's wedding. I was so excited about going to a wedding at The Church In The Pines at Children's Harbor - because almost 3 years ago Cory and I exchanged our wedding vows there, and we have actually never been in attendance at wedding there, other then our own of course!

We spent the day Saturday with my family and we had a great time getting to play with my precious nephews, Davis and Isaac. It was the perfect day - starting off with a date with my sister, Ellen, for a long walk. It was such a nice time for catching up and getting to talk with her about her experiences with her pregnancy and her baby boys and just getting to catch up. We came home to this:

Dan was out in driveway with the boys while they were riding their bikes. I was amazed at how good they were at riding them. (aren't they adorable?!) Check out Davis on his balance bike - no training wheels! Aunt Annie was so impressed!

We spent the rest of the day out on the boat and playing with our new friend, Mr. eel (his story to come, later this week)- a turtle that dad rescued from the middle of the road. Then it was time to get ready for the wedding!
It was a beautiful and perfect day for a wedding. The forecast called for rain - but no rain was in sight! (Did you know that there is an old wives tale about keeping the rain away on your wedding day?! - You bury a bottle of liquor at your reception site exactly one month before the event and you should have good weather!! - I had never heard that, that was until the Bride's father announced into the band's microphone, that he and a friend had snuck in and had buried a bottle of Grey Goose Vodka at the Country Club one month before. And that they were about to go dig it back up - Hilarious!)

(We missed you David & Laura!)

The wedding was gorgeous and we all had such a great time. Every detail about the wedding was perfect and beautiful. The band was great, decorations were gorgeous, the photo booth was a blast and the food was delicious! And the cake was to die for! (Mom was even given a some leftover cake and Cory and I had it for dessert last night - YUM!) If you live in Birmingham and haven't ever had cake from Olexa's - you need to experience it! She has a cafe in Mtn. Brook village and you can get her famous butter cream cake for dessert! And if you want to go and you want someone to go with you - let me know, I'll gladly join you!
What a fun weekend it was!! Congratulations to Celeste & Ryan!
